Writing social justice off as "postmodern neo-Marxism" is a dead end. The IDW should focus more on the pre-modern instincts that drive social justice, and less on the postmodern justifications of it. /5

If it consistently produces disproportionate group outcomes, we should figure out which disproportionalities are justified and which ones aren't. We should push back where they are justified, and express openness to fixing things where they need fixing. /7

If reconciliation is the goal (and I'm not entirely convinced that is the goal for everyone), it would be more productive to lead with sympathetic concern about unjustified disproportionalities, before justifying the remaining disproportionalities. /8

Lead with sympathy for the disproportionate arrest rates for drug crimes, and a commitment to help change things. Lead with sympathy for vast racial wealth gaps, an openness to a vast array of possible causes, and a commitment to improve things where possible. /10

Very well stated - I wish that conversations between systems / tribes like this would start by clarifying the sources of the goals each side has, but of course all sides assume their goals to be grounded in the Truth. Reconciliation only = loss of certainty if that is the case.
