In Sonic Movie there's this scene where he's playing baseball, he's the pitcher but also the hitter and also the guy that catches the ball that throws to home base and as he slides into home he played a full game of baseball by himself but had no one to hivefive and I felt that.
Anyway I saw it for the first time last night and really liked it. They found a way to make Sonic funny, annoying and endearing, and someone who just wanted to hang out with other people, which I also felt. Fully recommend.

I went in expecting to make fun of it, however, it wasn't bad at all.
Jim Carrey is such a throwback in this movie too.

Watched it for the first time with my younger brother last month and I agree with these takes Mary. Great use of the slow-motion / speedster stuff at the bar too imo - nice bit of slapstick comedy.
As someone who enjoys Sonic, I was really pleasantly surprised by the movie. Thought it would be terrible but really enjoyed it! Looking forward to a second given the ending
I agree, and also enjoyed the film. Looking forward to the second one which, fingers crossed, has tails.

Sonic is my favorite video game character (I have the Sonic guitar), and I did NOT want this movie made. I love when I'm proven wrong like this--this was such a good, wholesome movie that didn't have massive stakes and didn't beat you over the head with too much lore. Just fun.
