My mom was telling me about a friend of hers and she paused and said, "....now this is a new term for me....non binary." and we talked a bit about what that meant and about pronouns, and she said, "but they're a wonderful person, and you should know that first."
Also I agree, I would like to know if someone is wonderful before I know their gender. Seems more important.
