It's difficult to perceive negative reactions to influencers of any size getting free games/merchandise/hardware as anything other than jealousy.

Earned it in what way? By people palatable to brands? By evangelizing a product so hard it was difficult to ignore? I don’t care about the free stuff (most of it seems like useless trinkets) but sometimes it’s hard to take that person’s opinion seriously on X game.

And companies are just super nice and give things away for free to people out of charity! They expect nothing in return, I mean that's just how nice they are. Thats how corporations run right give out stuff with no expectations on return of their investment.
