I am hearing a lot for Disco Elysium, but I showed that too my dad and he said it looked 'too much' for him haha. Just to give you some perspective, he likes them simple and direct.

My dad played through Pillars of Eternity and loved it so much. He wants a similar game for Christmas, but he's very particular. He wants it story focused and not too hard because he's 'not as good at games like the kids are'. Any recs?

Is this on PC or console? On PC I'd recommend Pathfinder: Kingmaker which is very similar, very, very good and has tons of difficulty options to tailor the experience. PC only, though.

Not exactly the same genre, but Darkest Dungeon is 10/10 and is very “play at your own pace” Can’t recommend it enough!

Agree with the rest. If some is good, more is better: Pillars 2. OR if he wants a similar flavour, but different system, The Banner Saga trilogy by the same publisher is a blast in storytelling.
