Most games these days are literally super easy unless you're playing competitively online but the moment a FromSoft game releases and it's hard you get a parade of articles asking for easy mode.

More accessibility options are fine. Easy mode is not the same thing.

I'm a newbie to fighting games and I really appreciate that some devs are interested in creating ones with simplified controls and combos in order to focus on the parts that they consider the most important.

Similarly, some games have modes that essentially perform combos for you once you get them started. It allows me to at least enjoy story modes and see how a character is supposed to play before I decide to get serious.

With what things in mind, though? That a game is too hard, too obtuse, too grueling, has too high a bar of entry? Those aren’t accessibility issues in the way we’ve typically understood the term. To me, this ongoing conversation is conflating two very different things.
