This is a stretch here Ben. Many aspects of your job is encourage and discourage different types of game design based on your knowledge and expertise. At what point is 'difficulty' untouchable because it takes a developers agency away? What takes 'difficulty' off the table?

I'd also like to add that the developer has never explicitly stated that the game has to be hard, only that the player should feel accomplishment from perseverance. Certainly players can experience that on different levels.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't care if the game is actually changed, but I think the conversation is greater than 'developers vision' and 'get gud'.

as a colorblind dude, if color is vital to a game and their is no way to change it, thats fine. I'll be disappointed but its fine

I’m colorblind and this comparison is perfect. If an artist makes these compromises and makes a game more accessible to me, I am able to experience their vision. If they don’t make those compromises, myself, along with many other colorblind players, are left out.
