just curious: is this where “clique” comes from?

They may both be French onomatopoeias that share 5/6 letters, but my reading of their etymologies says they're different

just seemed like the definitions lent well to one another. “claques” also defined as “a group of sycophantic followers.”

It's the sound of clapping vs. the sound of a door latch clinking. Also a claque sounds more hierarchical than a clique
