Some more info... RCMP sources say the man was confronted almost immediately upon smashing through the gates. He was contained by the RCMP who then spent until 08:30 talking him down and convincing him to surrender. Sources say RCMP did not want to have to shoot.

At the time of his arrest sources say the man had two long guns on him - one slung across his back and another in his hand.

Sources say the man said he wanted to talk to the Prime Minister because he had lost his job and was about to lose his truck. He expressed anger and frustration about govt payouts and felt govt is not helping him.

I understand your point, but as a reporter I try to stay away from what I believe since I wasn't there, haven't spoken to him, didn't witness it. That's what sources are telling me he said. Sources have said they can't speak to intent either. We don't know about mental health etc

For some clarity... security source say the man made it clear he had no beef with police, wanted to talk to the Prime Minister, wanted "to send a message to the Prime Minister"
