Agreed, he talks about the substantial costs associated with acquiring these visas. Well, if its substantial, perhaps you could up the hourly rate and your overall cost would be the same or less plus all the saved resource time for not going through the visa process. Time=money.

Quit giving gubmint checks to able-bodied lazy A’s and they’ll eventually get hungry enough to work for $14/hr.

Such jobs WOULD pay more if the employer had no option to hire undocumented immigrants.

And if he didn’t have the American people subsidizing his labor he’d have to pay a better wage; and have one less country club membership.

After 4 years of college and months of job hunting, I get a whole $11.50 an hour. Id take $14 in a heart beat.
-
THIS! Bachelor's making 11.75 here. $15 an hour is the absolute TOP of the grid of what's hiring around me. Can't get those jobs.
-
I hear you...average for my field is $17 an hour in Maine. (Doesn't that mean a lot of places should be offering more than that??) Good luck actually finding anyone who'll even pay the average.
-

If immigrants weren’t there, the wages would rise. Supply and demand.
-
And so would costs ... that's the other part. Want to find out what it costs to live in America when all the work is done by Americans? Start saving now!
-
Sure, but the value of the dollar would settle out. Costs are still high now, but what you’re doing is paying the difference in those costs in inflation. Or to put it another way, burdening the next generation with those costs.
-
Costs wouldn’t significantly increase. Maybe a few bucks here and there.
-
Sure! The value of the good or service would increase to a level that the consumer is willing to pay.
-
Well, Dave, that makes sense except one of the biggest sectors affected will be food production. So, we'll just be willing not to eat?
-
I’m enjoying this chat by the way:) short term, I agree. Not only luxury services (like the landscaping) will be affected. Let’s think about it then. I would say that with the ending of slavery (low cost) we got the industrial revolution and economies of scale of machinery.
