the biggest problem with Civ-likes is the snowball effect, you struggle to get a decent empire going and then suddenly you're invincible.

@MemberOfSpecies I suppose you can just make conquest/power projection get harder the further you are away from your core territory?
@admittedlyhuman These feel like the wrong solutions. Ambition will scale naturally with power if there are enough things to aspire to.
