2/ so those of you who “invested” in EOS, but didn’t actually invest because you have no legal rights to anything, here’s your money went: - $1 billion, or 25 cents per 1$, to venture funds for the “ecosystem” where http://block.one is the ultimate LP or the GP

3/ the question is what happens to the remaining $3 billion: - sexy, big name hires - really great marketing and launch parties and community events - ? - making other protocols / networks, i hear
@bytemaster7 is rolling out something new although$EOS is still WIPএই থ্রেডটি দেখান -
4/ so i’m not surprised investors are chomping at the bit to put more money into http://block.one . really what they’re building is a money printing machine. a marketing and financial engineering engine.

5/ someone tell me what i’m getting wrong. genuinely curious and interested to hear how others frame this extreme cognitive dissonance.

Totally agree. EOS reminds me a little of CMGI from the mid-90s. And that’s how I think of it, as a pooled vehicle for blockchain.
-
interesting. CMGI is a fascinating example... the idea resonated but the execution was poor due to being overexposed to so many correlated companies that had terrible business models and crazy high valuations. with instant crypto liquidity, maybe EOS has a different fate?
-
EOS is a different animal, and I won't pretend to know its fate. Mostly using CMGI to illustrate that EOS resembles, at least to some extent, a pooled investment vehicle. I'd rather focus on pure blockchain protocols.

EOS = scam
-
not necessarily and not what i'm implying. i find it difficult to understand the vision of the project given all the headlines are focused on venture investing.
-
Uber raised over $20 billion. If http://Block.one is attempting to disrupt Uber, then the $4B ICO + strategic investments should make complete sense. From my understanding, B1 will try to disrupt more than Uber. The capital they are raising is justified.

And what about Peter Thiel (and others) investment? Do http://block.one really need more money?
-
i can't say definitively because there's little publicly shared information about the vision

We'll all agree that it is a lot of money. But it is also free trade so who cares. You are free to buy and sell the way you want. For the technology... maybe give EOS a year or two?
-
i'm trying not to be judgmental - i'm trying to share publicly known facts. do you think my statements are judgmental in nature?
-
We're all judgemental, I would say it is mainly about how tolerant we are.
-
But yes you sounded judgemental :D
-
Too many "e" in my words...

I'm sure Thiel et al are investing in the equity / company layer, not the token. From that angle you are getting a blockchain technology company with billions of cash on balance sheet. They think they are picking winners in a macro tech shift towards blockchain usage
-
#EOS: challenges, but no scam yet. imo Alex fairly correct; the CMGI idea, or like a large Crypto-PE firm makes sense. All the airdrops (some good, mostly middling, some pathetic) are less likely to be total ICO-like scams due to all the pro eyes. Not unfair to see as dividends.
