I did not learn effective learning strategies until college, so should I have been placed in remedial classes? No, I needed good teachers and well designed credit bearing courses. Placing URM’s in non-credited courses increases cost, length of school time and decreases grad rate.

When I was a doctoral student at UB I taught a course for athletes, pre-med majors & others interested in learning specifically how to set goals, study text & prepare for projects & exams. The course had proven record of increasing retention and GPA. I wish it was offered to K-12
Exactly! I am looking for K-12 math courses that support student learning and advancement. Colleges have corequisite courses but they are not traditionally offered in HS. If you hear of anything, please let me know.
