I’m sure that’ll be 100% true, but if they feel entitled to your vote simply based on “we’re not as bad as that guy,” then what power do you have over them to make them represent you properly? Trump got elected largely because black voters rejected Clinton and stayed home. Power.

Adam that is not fair! Simple math will dispute this racist theory!!! . Why are Blacks always blamed!! Blacks only make up 12% of the country!! Own your fucking SHIT!! It was WHITE ppl who didn’t vote for Clinton! Mainly WHITE evangelical WOMEN!!

There are myriad reasons Trump won, and I would never blame blacks; however, it cannot be disputed that black turnout decreased precipitously in 2016 compared to prior elections. Many of them didn’t like either candidate, and on that, I agree with them. They used their power.pic.twitter.com/jARgeyq0xR

Trump won a number of states by very small margins - margins that could have been made up by Clinton if she had gotten the same black turnout as Obama had gotten in 2008 and 2012. If anyone deserves blame, it’s Clinton and the Democratic establishment.

You are still not taking ownership for the fact that if BLACKS represent ONLY 12% of the country and our vote matters that much then a HELL of a lot of WHITE people are not VOTING. PERIOD. I wasn’t a fan of Clinton either. But this loss belongs to ppl who represent the majority.

I don’t disagree with that in any way - we may be talking around each other at this point. The Democratic Party also turned its back on labor years ago, which is why so many disaffected whites in former blue states now reliably vote Republican.

Thus is true. Labor was a huge loss for the Dems in 2016. Blacks were not exactly enchanted by Clinton so turnout was low compared to previous years.

I would presume this had more to do with gender and race than perceived failure in support for labor. But, I need empirical evidence to support this before making it a conclusion.

To clarify, I’m presuming that white men in labor preferred Trump because he appealed to their racism and sexism.
