  2. Once you reach the summit, staying there becomes the great battle. An inside dive into 's summer transfer plans, featuring Kylian Mbappe, Kai Havertz, Jadon Sancho and sticking to the principles that restored them as a domestic and European powerhouse

  4. It ends 2-2, leaving Bayern at the summit with a point advantage over Leipzig. Dortmund are three points off top in third. Gladbach on the same haul as BVB. Some title race!

  5. And... you knew it was coming. Christopher Nkunku with fine feet and a finish into the far corner to equalise for Leipzig, who are pushing for a winner at the death.

  6. A controlled first 45 from Gladbach met by a chaotic second. Patrik Schick pulled a goal back after a Yann Sommer mistake and Alassane Plea has been sent off after two yellows in quick succession - one for dissent, which hasn't been a popular decision. All Leipzig since the break

  7. Gladbach's transitions have been excellent. But for some brilliant defending from Dayot Upamecano, the visitors could have more than the two-goal cushion (courtesy of Alassane Plea and Jonas Hofmann) they possess at HT. Did really well to restrict Leipzig inside the box too.

  8. Change of title-chasing scenery for me. At Red Bull Arena where Leipzig host Gladbach, who are two points behind them. Top end of the Bundesliga table is ridiculously tight. Erling Haaland swimming in goals for Dortmund and Bayern won at Mainz to lead the pack - but for how long?

  9. Against the flow of the game or the statistics of it, it's another derby win for on the night, but greater victory for - now in another domestic final. It was also a tale of contrasting standards...

  10. That was unexpected - and completely against the run of play. had zero shots of any kind to City's nine, but Fred's free-kick was headed away by Bernardo... to Nemanja Matic. He struck it sweetly into the bottom right to put the visitors ahead. 0-1

If we skip the hysteria, we'll find the important questions we should be asking about the mid-season break, cancelling replays, too much football and too little joined-up thought from English football's bodies...

  15. Chatting about football/cricket in the workplace is apparently "a gateway to more laddish behaviour and - if unchecked - a signal of a more laddish culture." 🚮Bin these nonsense stereotypes along with the notion that females aren't interested in sport

  17. Time alone is not going to fix the above. And especially not time given to the wrong man (albeit a nice one with good intentions) under the wrong structure.

  18. Man Utd look like a club whose owners care about investors/profit over on-pitch progress, who had no sustainable plan post-Fergie, spent big (close to £900m since summer 2013) and stupidly, have a questionable structure, don’t have a skilled DoF and have an out-of-depth manager

  19. But it's not just about the manager, as pointed out. For eg: LFC have Michael Edwards doing an unbelievable job as sporting director. Man United are still without the director of football they’ve wanted since August 2018, without any solid reason as to why.

  20. Having an elite manager - the right fit - with a proven long-term blueprint does make a difference: in terms of the targets you can attract, reshaping the image of the club, giving greater belief to players, staff, supporters. It can be transformative

  21. The 'give me time because look over there' reasoning is nonsense. Popularist and not rooted in anything concrete. You can't transplant your situation to another club’s, which is so different. Why do *you* merit patience in *your* situation based on what *you* have done & can do?
