In 2018/19 I exposed a surgeon who harmed women, removing their reproductive organs; leaving many with permanent disability. Today, the NSW government launched a redress scheme for his victims. HUNDREDS of women have applied. I can’t believe it. #justice

He nearly died and needed a huge heart op. Second time doctors dismissed his symptoms as mental health/ neuro he had actually had a stroke. Again took insisting to the doctors this was different

The other frustrating thing os because he has major neurological issues doctors often dismiss his symptoms as that and push him down the wait list. One time they sent him home, I told mum to take him to another hospital. Turned out he had golden staph and got to his heart.

I get there must be people much worse than him, but he’s experiencing the issue I’ve spent so much time writing about. Overworked ED staff and shortages. Mum considering taking him home as it could be another two or more hours

My dad has been waiting in a hospital ED 3.5 hours despite having a history of 2 strokes and a heart attack/ damaged heart with major heart op. He’s confused and not answering questions and doesn’t know what he’s doing (mum is with him thankfully).

Before anyone complains we ran many pieces including comment with GP views front and centre; but we need to recognise primary care goes beyond general practice and whole-of-system reform is critical, including listening to a range of experts.

About 15,000 patients in and around the rural city of Mildura in Victoria’s north-west have been left without a bulk-billing doctor and are struggling to access their medical records. @benitakolovos @MelissaLDavey theguardian.com/australia-news

Stop softening abuse. Stop romanticising it. Stop offering crumbs of sympathy to perpetrators. Victim blaming is so ingrained in our culture it is the default response. It drives stories. It drives profits. It drives the cycle of domestic and sexual violence.

A critic of mandates due to low quality evidence. Bias & confounding in observational studies make results shakey: testing criteria, vaxx, WFH, community incidence etc all effect case rates, not just masks. These factors differ or aren’t even reported bw masked & unmasked schools

It's unclear who will staff these new GP 'superclinics' - or which practices will get the contracts. Where will the medical, nursing and admin capacity come from?

You rarely get Auditor General reports as strong as this. The Biodiversity Offset Scheme is failing & needs urgent attention to save threatened plants & animals. #nswpol

This NSW auditor general's report is damning and backs up my extensive reporting on biodiversity offsets. Hope others follow it up as it's really important, including in the context of federal plans to create a biodiversity market. theguardian.com/environment/20

Would love to see this for Australia (ping Science Minister Ed Husic ) - publicly-funded research should be accessible to all who have paid for it.

BREAKING: White House issues new policy that will require, by 2026, all federally-funded research results to be freely available to public without delay, ending longstanding ability of journals to paywall results for up to 1 year. Coverage coming on @ScienceInsider.

Been on the pill continuously for decades. Reckon I've done alright.
