    We only have one species of here - the Sudell’s Frog (Neobatrachus sudellae). They’re a burrowing frog that are adapted to living in the . They spend years buried under the ground, waiting for rain. Once it does rain the desert sounds like this 🐸

    We received 50 mm of rain at the reserve over the weekend! That’s more than we got in the whole of 2019! All the clay pans and gilgais in the area are full of water. Even the have come out! 📸 , Poppy Walker &

    💦 50 mm of rain at (more than we got in all of 2019) and the worst of the drought broken. We'll take stock later, planning for easing the arid zone into a hotter and drier future, but for now... yay for frogs! 🐸

    The rainfall readings are in fresh from the field! In the last 3 days has received 50mm!! Hallelujah. Cannot stress how necessary this was for all life forms at the reserve (including humanoids).

    Great modification of the water fountain design we’ve been sharing. This one has a larger spout and would suit larger animals where evaporation isn’t so intense. Also, no drilling required.

    Anyone wanting to help wildlife after bushfires - here's a simple cheap design for a 'water fountain'. Can be made from hardware store stuff. They limit evaporation, lasting 2 weeks in 40+ degrees here and making a real difference for our drought affected animals.

    profiled DNA from 23 of the young quolls and compared them to the 12 potential parents. We knew which mum was which, but had no clue which males were daddies and how many young they had fathered.
