More often than not, people will gravitate towards more symbolic gestures because it makes them feel like they are doing something without changing/education themselves or uplifting marginalized communities.
While the dude in the vid sucks, having Black Lives Matter painted on streets hasn't done jackshit to improve conditions for Black folks in America so

I don't know how other cities did it but in Indianapolis a collective of Black artists got together to design the mural and they live streamed artist performances and speeches during the painting today. And the artists were paid.
