Even with touring, unless you're a huge act you're barely breaking even. We don't treat the arts as a "real career" here. Artists now also have to deal with the closing of restaurants. This will severely damage their ability to pay the rent. Although not a top-tier job, restaurants were a lot of people's most sustainable stream of revenue - including myself for over a decade.
