Do you have an official position on ending qualified immunity, the doctrine that shields police who violate constitutional rights from civil rights lawsuits in a relatively large number of cases? Rep. Meng has not yet signed onto a pending bill that would end it.
Hi Ashok, I've discussed this for quite some time and support ending qualified immunity for police officers. It's a larger conversation from governance perspective. However in my convos with CJ reform advocates this can't be a panacea and needs to be part of larger reform.
