As we hunker down for the oncoming wave of #COV-19 cases, I think about not only how this may have been prevented, but also what conclusions will we draw when we make it through to the other side. What will we do differently?

We see Republican lawmakers leaping at policy that in regular circumstances they would deride as “socialist”. We see our society begin to make individual sacrifices for the good of the whole. We start to see what a world could look like if we looked out for each other.

When we come up for air, will we realize that the USA having the worst access to care out of all comparable countries brutally handicapped us in this fight? That had we answered the call to provide all of our people with healthcare, we would have given them all a fighting chance?

I hope this oncoming storm is milder than the doomsayers predict. I also hope we decide to take a different path forward when it passes. A path that understands that justice is not for one, but for the many. That a rising tide lifts all boats.
