Beyond the glaring racial, class, & health disparities in who the death penalty impacts, I don't believe that our government should be in the business of state sponsored executions. We can do and be better. Anyone can. I know this from my years of work on criminal justice reform.
I've worked closely with folks who served their time, changed their lives, and added deep value to their community, their families, our society, and to me as an individual.
I believe that people have the power to grow and change. I believe that true justice must also be restorative. And I'm going to fight like hell to bring that framework to DC.
