The bill also removed Pell Grant access to incarcerated folks. Access to higher ed is proven to reduce recidivism and improve outcomes for impacted folks & their families. We need to pass the REAL Act to undo the dmg. done by this miguided bill.

Thanks for pointing that out — didn’t know much about REAL. There’s no reason to deny grants to those who stand to gain the most!

Back in the day I worked at @ccf_ny and we worked in partnership with other orgs and impacted folks as part of the Education from the Inside Out Coalition to get the act introduced in both houses so I'm a bit biased :).
