Such partnerships only create profit motive to let the problem remain, rather than force investment in addressing income inequality, education, healthcare, and the myriad intersections of policy that lie at the root of the problem.

By "the needs of the many before the benefit of the powerful and the wealthy" means I support true Medicare for All so that no one has to die because they couldn't afford their medication...

...or the right form of treatment so that a private insurance company's stockholders can see a profit this year. It means that I support a new vision of public housing that comes with a housing guarantee for the homeless...

...because in 2019 no human being deserves to die on the streets of the richest country in the world. It means I support a living wage and universal basic income because our dignity is not derived solely from our ability to toil away for 40 hours a week...

...while corporate bosses make outsized wages and jet set across the globe living their best life. It means I support Green New Deal policies that will be unkind to the fossil fuel industry and I'm okay with that because they've yet to give a damn about the planet we all live on

for the sake of short-term economic gains. Through their lobbying and actions they've acted as if my kids' right to a future comes second to their right to make a buck and I'm tired of it.

It means that I get exhausted thinking that our nation has been at war since I was a sophomore in college, from the birth of all of my children to today where my eldest is getting ready for his last year of junior high...
