    Seriously, if you're afraid of big ideas stay out of the way. There's an entire generation of bright, bold leaders ready to fight for policies that will lift EVERYONE up.

    Watching anti-student debt twitter fall over itself is giving me flashbacks to when the same “big thinkers” were quick to embrace their other favorite boogeyman: the so-called “welfare queen”. These pundits lack imagination & are so removed from the pain of millions of people.

    flushing in the past week.. - a death at food pantry loading area - car crashes into bakery on main street injuring passerbys due to road rage from a parking spot - increase of those homeless, tons of small biz closings we need proactive real leadership :/

    As someone who's organized and advocated for CJ reform policy believe me when I tell you that it's not a slogan getting in the way, it's white supremacy and a lack of political will. The latest pearl clutching over defund is an extension of that and nothing more.

    The worst thing about “Defund the Police” is not the electoral impact but the policy impact We had an amazing moment of consensus in the aftermath of George Floyd that could’ve been leveraged for real reform Instead we fed the forces of polarization & threw the consensus away

    While there's good in here it falls short in failing to address that CBP and ICE are broken agencies that can't be reformed. There's clearly no plan to hold accountable agents or leadership for what are clear and obvious human rights abuses.

    Immediate Biden immigration moves: 
- Rescind Muslim ban 
- Deprioritize removal of undocumented immigrants who aren't violent criminals 
- Restore DREAMers program 
- Withdraw from agreements that shifted rejected asylum seekers to other countries

    Get ready. "Reforms" will get floated by NYPD, etc. Take none seriously if , deep investments in communities & reducing cops in our lives isn't part of the short-term strategy. NYPD bloated $6B budget, size, scope & outsized power needs immediate shrinking.

    For months the NYPD & the mayor have urged the public to trust the NYPD’s ability to police its own. , & I show that in 71% of cases, the NYPD has chosen not to punish officers its own watchdog found guilty of serious misconduct:
