I do not get a check from an employer. I do not have a guaranteed payment from a company once a month, or every two weeks. What I CREATE literally keeps a roof over the head of several people, not just me.

Yes, I do live sessions and that's the lion's share of the money I make my living doing. CREATING content isn't just a huge time investment, there's financial investment as well, out of my pocket on everything I produce...not just in time but money paid out.

And the first time my shit got widely pirated? I almost stopped creating content for sale. It was that bad of an experience. Dealing with DMCAs is a pain in the ass (I outsource it now). Dealing with whiny fuckbois crying that their shit got shut down and how I'm an evil bitch

apparently ROLLING IN ZE MONIES was also depressing. Then when I showed some of those fuckbois the costs, the losses, etc in a vain appeal of 'this does actual harm' Yeah. That went great, as you can imagine.

AND HERE IS THE KICKER FOLXS YOU READY? READY? THIS IS THE NAIL IN THE FUCKING COFFIN RIGHT HERE....

I have titles I give away for free, and no person who's EVER asked me for a title and claimed poverty has ever been sent away. I just don't advertise that, but I have fans who can attest to it. ESPECIALLY if they want to see if they like it. I've also never refused a refund.

AND THAT IS JUST FOR PORNOGRAPHY. It's not like there's a lending library in your fucking town buying my porn and lending it out increasing my visibility and sales.

A creator is a person who's using their skull sweat, time, skills, and a lot of resources WE HAVE TO PAY FOR ... to make things to entertain you. Because we like doing it. Seriously. Because we like doing it and want to make a living at it. I could make a living elsewhere.

I could make perhaps a better and more secure living elsewhere too. BUT I LIKE DOING THIS. My fans love that I do this. But I don't like it enough to do it in my spare time for free. I couldn't do it well that way either. I'd be exhausted all the time.

There's stuff people pirate that doesn't really impact a creator too much because they're not seeing any portion of sales, a company is. There's stuff people pirate that's not being sold anymore so only some distant 3rd party asshole is making money selling old rope not theirs.

BUT FOR THE MOST PART when creators TELL YOU this is hurting them? It's because it hurts us.
Show this thread -
AND THE FUCKING AUDACITY of people bitching directly at creators for saying 'hey...this hurts us' is goddamned ridiculous. Very few authors are rich. Very few porn stars are rich. Very few indie creators are wealthy. The few who are...are what you think is the industry.

Or because someone is a household name they must be rich somehow. And I feel like...did people not see comic creators having to crowd fund their fucking health expenses? Ugh. U G H

And look guys. I get it. I've been very poor. I've been very broke (they're different things). But this isn't people quietly (shamefully) pirating something because they're poor or broke. This latest fuckshit are people acting as though they have the right to do it.

And that creators who speak out ...are the baddies. And that is pure unmitigated horse shit. But the worst part is it hurts the vulnerable most of all. Mainstream mass marketed bullshit will be juuuust fine.

PS: If you want to [checks notes] tear down capitalism, hey I'm all on board. But in the meanwhile I have to use my labor to survive. Or I don't survive.
