Had to block a friend of several friends who kept showing up on my feed, because Twitter’s algorithm is stupid. This person, for months now, has been “asking” for money to pay for his lodging, threatening suicide if he doesn’t get it. He always gets it.

This is actually the second person I’ve seen, this week alone, who has “asked” for money, at least vaguely insinuating that they would hurt themselves if they didn’t get it. These “asks” are always couched with self-pity and aggression.

I’m not screencapping, because I’m not getting into some snitch tagging shit. I don’t know this person’s story, or if they’re telling the truth, but I do know this: threatening suicide if you don’t get what you want is textbook manipulative, abusive behavior.

As much as the word “triggering” has been cheapened and turned into a punchline, it’s triggering for me. I’ll get into why someday, after I’ve worked it out in therapy. Suffice to say, it makes me very, very angry to see people do it, let alone other people give in to it.

I don’t know why I’m posting this and leaving myself open to accusations of insensitivity. Maybe I am insensitive, to this particular kind of behavior. So be it. Anyway, they’re blocked now. I hope they get out of whatever situation they’re supposedly in soon.

Honestly, good for you. I dont mind helping people but people who tend to threaten self harm tend to do it serially and that is abuse and dangerous.
