This "soapgate" thing is ridiculous, but it is making me think harder about the place of sex and sexuality in YA fiction and in the marketing of YA fiction. As an (often immature, but still really) adult who writes YA, I'd love to hear your opinions, even "unpopular" ones.

Maybe, but I do think there are teens wrestling with sex and sexuality who wouldn't fit into the New Adult category, and I wonder if leaving them (the topics, not the teens) out entirely does those readers a disservice?

Oh I think it does. I dont think sex should be removed from YA - sexual identity, hormones, and all the questions that come with it need to be discussed. We've already watered down Middle grade books some, I would hate to do that to YA too.
