Doesn’t the old saying go, “no publicity is bad publicity?” More seriously though, I think book reviews should be honest and unfiltered. Why shouldn’t we tag the author? I rarely find a book I don’t like at least a little. I have though and tagged the author.

Because you’re forcing them to read your Feedback? I feel like this is pretty self-explanatory

I prefer an honest and thoughtful critique (not bashing) as an author. Don’t you? Isn’t that how we grow as humans and writers?

Of course but you are ignoring what I just said: that you are forcing them to read the review

Book reviews are for the service of readers more than authors. Tagging a writer leads people to a particular writer. This is especially important if you are a critic of style or language. Authors are free to leave any comment or review unread and ignored.

They are but when it's right in your face because someone @ you on Twitter you cant just avoid it then??? Its one thing to ignore it when you are searching your name or looking at goodreads its another to be @'ed and told your work isnt liked
