My reply was more geared towards the "books are going to disappear like Netflix caused movies to disappear" or something. I dont have enough data but do know that Kindle Unlimited and Scribd have international memberships.

Both of these cost around 10 dollars a month which, for many people in the global south, is too much money. I really wish there was an alternative to piracy for those who are less privileged people

Totally get. Scribd does have a 30 day free trial, and does allow multiple devices to have books saved - so it could possibly be done over a few different people joining in? I honestly haven't checked out the logistics.
