  1. Also, I know it’s a heavy lift, but start with De Beauvoir’s “The Second Sex”. It’s a good starting point, if you’re looking to educate yourself, in that it doesn’t start by assuming you have all of the background info (which is why it’s so long)

  2. A miniset of basic feminist authors: Simone De Beauvoir, Judith Butler, Roxane Gay There’s a lot out there, and everyone has opinions, but they’re a good place to start.

If you want take a look, here it is: It’s far from a complete collection, and the typesetting is far from perfect, but if you’re interested in reading the works of Russia’s Sappho via an easily accessible PDF, check it out! (5/5)

This December, with the help of my literary-sleuthing partner, managed to find and typeset about 45 pages of complete Sophia Parnok poems from seven academic sources as a Christmas gift for a friend who had talked about the difficulty of finding compilations of Parnok’s works(4/)

However, in the modern day, compilations of her works are difficult to find outside of excerpts from academic biographies, largely because most of her work was never translated into English, which makes casual reading of her work difficult. (3/)

Born in 1885, she was a trailblazing Russian Jewish lesbian poet, to the point at which she is commonly referred to as “Russia’s Sappho”. Fueled by romance and tragedy, she published 5 books of poetry, more than 30 critical essays, and several translations. (2/)

I did a literary compilation project a little bit ago that I wasn’t gonna talk about publicly, but it occurs to me that tracking it all down is almost pointless unless I talk about it on a wider platform, so here goes: This is Sophia Parnok (1/)

There is no solution in which neither side is harmed, where predatory behavior is concerned You either stand with the survivors of this type of abuse, regardless of how inconvenient it might seem, or you facilitate the behavior of the dudes who perpetrate it /end

“Your safety, growth, and happiness are not as important as those of the person who harmed you.” By choosing to remain ignorant of the behaviors of these dudes, you enable them to harm more people, and force the people they have harmed out of communities 4/

You have never seen them the way the people they have exploited have, and *you never will*, because they don’t want from you what they wanted from them. When you choose to disengage from, ignore, or actively attempt to undermine our perspectives, you are making a statement: 3/

There are lots of dudes in industry that have behaved in predatory ways, regardless of whether they choose to acknowledge that. Some of them would surprise you. They come across as kind and friendly. Some of them may even be friends of yours. But! And this is a crucial but: 2/

[THREAD] This one is for any industry dudes out there who are generally well-meaning but conflict averse. Today I came across an article about the the “bumbler” archetype: It’s worth a read, but can read as a bit adversarial, so here’s another angle: 1/
