Pretty much no-one had heard of the guy until 2 months ago, other than inside politicos. Not surprised he had to go after the major media and earliest states. As the campaign progresses, peoples' attachments to early favorites can loosen and more ears will open. Now's the time.

Yep! Though most Dem voters do not choose their candidate based primarily on policy ideas. Of course, TV pundits and twitter-politicos are exceptions to this, and at some point you need to acknowledge them. Now that he has name awareness, he can start refining policy positions.

Personally, since all Dems will agree on 80% of policy, his positions are important but only to the tune of 20% of my calculus for getting my vote. The other 80% are related to priorities, ability to broadly unify, comms & negotiation skills, & mastery of nuance & game theory.

Agreed, although I'll say that his specific stance on college tuition is unique (as far as I can tell) and sets him apart for me. Same with health care - similar to Bernie's plan but less abrupt. The rest yeah nuance and priorities/messaging will make the difference

does he have even a single policy that would address issues in the black community? Nothing but empty platitudes from this guy🙄

Yes. It's a 5 issue focus: education, justice, healthcare, housing & entrepeneurship. I believe Al Sharpton interviewed him for NAN and is posting the interviews.

that is a list of issues. thats not policies. Its the same thing Bernie does. Stating problems but not offering solutions. We are demanding more this time Compare with Warren or Kamala who have laid out actionable steps and legislation. Pete doesn't measure up

You can check out his policy ideas at http://meetpete.org  but man this feels like another case of people needing to be spoon fed facts to dispel misunderstandings like trust me (South Bend lifelong resident), go look at what he’s said, he has policy ideas.

Exactly. It’s really starting to seem like some combination of willful ignorance, parroting an inane take, and arbitrary expectations. Listen to just one of Pete’s podcast visits and you can hear a vision, a set of concrete values, and plans for solutions to address them.

There’s no rule that you must start a campaign w a reams of policy papers. Pete’s clearly and consistently articulated strategy has been to open the season with values and after that, offer detailed plans that serve those values. It also fits his initially lean startup operation.
