Profit motive?

That was my first thought, but it doesn't add up. They claim "Big Pharma doesn't make money off HCQ, so doctors withhold it!" but then dexamethasone is just as cheap & old, so why do doctors give that? And the same ppl have supported some v expensive therapies too.

Being told it's ineffective reinforces the victim complex that conspiracy theorists are trying to satisfy with their conspiracies.

It’s a narcissistic thing I think. If i know something that you don’t know, then I am admirable and special, even if it is ultimately untrue.
-
Of course.....I know this....and you don’t ....and that’s why I’m special.

The greater the potential for arbitrage, the higher the mkting hype.

And then there is the potential for added sales of the mainstays from various side effects of the hyped but ineffective drugs as well. Like they say, every drop helps. Or as the saying goes, "Ek dhakka aur do".

It's the only way to get people to join your inner group by distrusting the outgroup (media, scientists, etc). This works, but "they" don't want you to know. If they promoted drugs that worked there wouldn't be an outer group to be against. The inner group wouldn't exist.

Conspiracy theories only work when they have no evidence... If they is evidence... it is called a fact or a lie.
