Someone on FB shared your blog as a comment on this discussion https://m.facebook.com/groups/625210141012983?view=permalink&id=858411541026174 … I mentioned that I follow you on twitter and the moderator suggested that I invited you to chime in. It's about sense making.
Thank you! I don’t have a facebook account, so I can’t see the thread, only a link to “fertile darkness.” I liked the first part of that a lot.
The second part advocates Romantic anti-rationalism, which I think is (disastrously) mistaken. The right response is to understand more clearly what rationalism is good for, and so to use it better. This is relevant, although not squarely on-point:https://meaningness.com/metablog/rationalism-critiques …
Thanks for your response and that link. A few have already commented on the fertile darkness piece in much the same way you have. I do understand not having a FB account. I found your thoughts on meta-rationality very interesting. Are you familiar with metamodernism?
Thanks! Yes, I’ve been following metamodernism, and find it promising… I have a stub page on it here:https://meaningness.com/fluid-culture
Hm, I know you dont have a FB account but the group on there scientific metamodernism is promising. I have some ideas that I want to push for it, but in general I'd say that one way it can be represented is through finding a brouwer fixed point along multiple diverse fields.
Interesting… I’m working on a book about scientific metamodernism:https://meaningness.com/eggplant/function-structure …
That looks really interesting. I'd like to see it. When might you have this book out? Also you have you heard of the group https://medium.com/the-abs-tract-organization …? They might foster some interesting angles in your research.
Thanks for the pointer; I’ll take a look! Book was supposed to be done at the end of last year, but I had zero time to write between the end of October and a few days ago, so … if all goes well, in a few months. Can’t make promises due to uncertainties about circumstances!
Of course. I'm sure you will announce it when its ready. I'll be on here.
