This is a splendid on-the-other-handing.
It’s deliberately ridiculous (a technique I often use myself); but mostly not ridiculing @jordanbpeterson.
Rather, analyzing and explaining the intellectual background to his arguments, and pointing out flaws.https://twitter.com/mtraven/status/996137537675542529 …

This point stuck out for me—probably as much for the phrasing, and its even-handed contempt for all sides, as for the content. (I am not sure whether this accurately characterizes
@jordanbpeterson’s position; nor does@ContraPoints, as she immediately admits.)pic.twitter.com/z9uzgSVQPu

The
@ContraPoints performance explicitly endorses several of@jordanbpeterson’s points. Notably: the contemporary left has a lot to say about what is bad, and not enough about what would be better. A realistic vision of a future good society is critically lacking on all sides.Show this thread

Heh, the similarity has been quite obvious. I’d assumed you’d already spotted it. I think Jordan has much more of a crisis-response structure to his program, while you’re mostly just noting a crisis without structuring your work as a response to it. Big urgency delta as a result.

Yes, people have been pointing it out for a long time. I just haven’t had time to follow up to understand his program properly.

I never meant to imply that you're saying similar things!
-
Thanks! Others have said that, though; and after listening to that podcast, I think it’s broadly correct. With lots of “on the other hand”s, definitely.

Anything in particular you don't understand about his work?
-
I just haven’t read/watched enough to have an overview understanding of the shape of it.
