While it is a good paragraph, it implies that no rationalist can be a rationalist for long: as soon as a rationalist suspects that there could be a workable alternative to rationalism, it would be irrational to not explore that. However, rationalism seems to be a strong attractor
Wrt normativity, I think that rationalism is about as normative as atheism: the position is epistemological and instrumental, not normative. But in practice, you will find people that are normative, often because they have terminal purposes that rationally require rationalism.
The rationalism attractor can be explained in three ways: 1. Rationalism is not an epistemological position but a social self-help movement for nerds, 2. Rationalism breaks the minds of its hosts so they cannot escape, 3. Rationalism entails metarationalism. I think it's mostly 3
Conversely, there are few people in an attractor of your metarationalism while being also strong, principled thinkers. (It should be easy for you to recruit hermeneutics people or spiritual ones, i.e. those that "always knew" that rationalism is wrong without understanding it.)
Not interested in the latter group. Hope to recruit rationalists by explaining meta-rationalism clearly and showing why it’s better :)
Perhaps there is also a residual aversion to the prospect of living in an entirely mechanical universe?
