So I haven’t read Garfinkel or Suchman (yet, they’re on the listen per your recommendation). I realized that as a product manager in tech I’ve been inadvertently practicing ethnomethodology for years. We call it contextual inquiry under “user research”.

His central idea was that the social order has to be continually reconstructed, moment by moment, by a process of “giving accounts” of the reasons for activity—narration, essentially!
