I don't know of a good write up, but I was under the impression that only kegan 4s have values, not 3s or 5s. Pretending to have values can make 3 appear more sophisticated.

I would love to see that post. Though nebulous and frequently weaponized, I understood “values” to be shorthand for perceived hierarchy of importance/significance, what matters more or less.
