I think he is a pragmatist, not a philosopher, and mostly busy with politics these days.

On a deeper level, Peterson may have a similar project as you: finding a sustainable mode of existence in the present age, but starting not from Buddhism but Catholicism, and with a greater focus on societal and relationship dynamics rather than the individual.

Peterson’s project is an easier sell since Christianity is more familiar in the West than is Vajrayana. Thoughts?

Perhaps. But Christianity also has a specific perspective on how to integrate relationship, family, group, society and work that seems curiously absent in currently available Buddhist packages that focus on individual liberation.

Yes, those questions were never addressed by Buddhism. They were, and are, considered secular matters in Asian Buddhist societies.

In China, there was a division of labor between religions, with Confucianism doing most of the work on those sorts of questions. Buddhism was in charge of funerals mostly :)

Daoists were in charge of burials, making sure the dead didn't rise, and tracking them down if they did.

Ah, it seems I was misinformed… know of any good sources on Taoist methods for dealing with the undead? Maybe I can use that in my vampire novel if I ever get time to work on it again
