Buddhist precepts explicitly allow meat eating provided that you do not kill the animal, nor is the animal killed for your sake l, nor do you witness the slaughter.

Well. Monks during Buddha's time had to beg for food. They took whatever they were given. It was actually worse to ask for some specific kinds of food. Because it imposed nuisances upon people and it also make you picky.

Yes… But we live in very different social and material circumstances than they did; and I am not a monk; and very few if any monks genuinely beg for food nowadays.
