I think communications between levels (not just conflict resolution) is one of a main contributor to the split in American society today. The whole “ why don’t they listen to facts” arguments sounds like communal vs rational viewpoints.

Maybe this is why I find non violent communication annoying. It's not that it doesn't work, it's that I don't feel it's always appropriate, whereas proponents sometimes refuse any other method.
