I really think this is one of the most overlooked points on the political left. We/they end up measuring the wrong things, instead of emphasizing metrics that are related to ease of access to opportunity.

It's fine to me to try to encourage certain types of people to do more of certain types of things (ex. more women in tech). One way to know this egalitarian ideology is somewhat bullshit is to look at how many groups are encouraging more women to be trash collectors.

Many of these issues seem to be class issues, not social issues. It's not really about perfect equality if you want more women in tech but don't also back more women in the military or in dangerous jobs most people don't want, but which men fill by much much higher margins.

The right mostly understands that the culture war is mostly about class; the left, ironically, mostly does its best to avoid understanding that.
