If phrased positively as career advice, absolutely on target.
Also could be absolutely accurate if addressed to a specific individual who should know better due to his position.
But afaik it’s not public who wrote the OP or their position, so this reads to me as a general dressing-down of >
all engineers whose political skills are not tip-top.
Could be that goog is so attractive they can hire only engineers who DO have great people skills, but few other cos can.
Personally I’m far more interested in ux/pm/mgt than coding, but I’m not sure I’d survive in a politicized corporate environment

Well, I wasn’t commenting on the OP, nor Zunger’s response overall; pointing out that he’s doing something similar to what he accuses OP of.
Not taking sides, nor making a political point, just noting an irony because it’s interesting.
Mid-90s I had a black girlfriend who was Director level in a famously pc SV company and she still faced racial & sexual harassment.
This stuff is incredibly complicated and difficult, and absolute and/or simplistic approaches are unhelpful. But may be mandated by law.
