Contemporary Buddhists are flatly unwilling to consider what parts are correct or incorrect. This was NOT so for most of the 20th Century.

I think you may be imagining too great a degree of self-awareness. If Buddhism equals final destination, no need to critique it.

Yeah, hard to know. But I suspect a degree of “false consciousness” in the existentialist sense. Buddhists are thick, but not THAT thick.

Other trads that you'd say handle outside philosophical/ethical critiques better? Aside from Xianity/Judaism, as arguably inside discourse?
