Yup. Many services are much cheaper with “insurance” too… US health insurance is a primarily a price negotiation scheme, not insurance.

as I understand a lot of doctors use Factoring, 30% cut, bc it takes forever to get reimbursed via Medicare, insurance cos.

It gets written off. The amount on the bill is not the same as the amount that gets collected by the doctor/hospital/clinic.

About half of it is eaten up by paperwork labor, I think. I know a lot of GPs will give steep cash discounts bc it costs so much.
