@GabrielDuquette both standards and levels of stuff-in-common Iocally have changed - we can't just watch local sports with neighbors now

@sarahdoingthing @GabrielDuquette wait, so — how *do* you want ppl to commune Sarah? gardens may need walls, but if the soil is barren... :(

@KevinSimler @GabrielDuquette I am the first to admit that community is hard, my suspicion is missing rituals but lots of stuff

@sarahdoingthing @GabrielDuquette rituals, totally. (remind me to tell you about my old community sometime. So. Many. Rituals.)

@Meaningness my old community = software startup, pretty cliched. but the rituals were sublime. tons of creative energy devoted to them.

@Meaningness there were ~5 of us who took "ritual care of the community" as one of our core concerns.

@Meaningness highlight was probably the yearly "burning man"-inspired "camp out in the office and make art for a week" festival

@Meaningness but we invented all sorts of rituals, v. broad participation, and the team had crazy-high solidarity (cause/effect unclear :)

@Meaningness biggest regret was never getting to do any rituals with fire! I always wanted to get people around a bonfire somehow...

@KevinSimler 200 witches dancing naked around a bonfire until dawn is one of my favorite ritual memories
