1/ Working on a streaks feature (shipping in the next week—lmk if you wanna beta-test) and... apparently I'm taking a break from coding to tweet about my design process!

2/ But more importantly than not missing a day is not then missing a *second* day. So Complice's streaks also include a chillStreak mode, which is the number of days you've gone without missing more than 1 day in a row. https://twitter.com/duskvortex/status/1256931751923978240 …pic.twitter.com/VH1pbbtRM3

3/ Also, unlike most other apps that feature streaks, Complice doesn't force you to actually *use* the app every single day to maintain the streak. We're not going to add a feature that'll make you panic, even if it's good for metrics.https://twitter.com/AdamSilvera/status/882067404754497536 …

4/ Aside: Complice is actually basically not designed by metrics at all. Lag measures are important, but we mostly use a mix of metaphor & model-based design, aesthetics, & caring about individual user experience. This is how we want users to feel

5/ Some of your most meaningful days may be spent unplugged in the woods, or so stoked about a project you're working on that any to-do list would only slow you down that day. Complice needs to incentivize reflecting on those days later, not pulling yourself out of flow states.

7/ Anyway, yeah. This is about the long-game, and about unlearning the fear-based orientation to doing-things that is taught in our culture, & cultivating your appetite to move towards what you find meaningful.https://twitter.com/george__mack/status/1262509035959484424 …

8/ I've got other ideas in the pipeline along the same lines:
changing from the "is this enough?" question to a more fluid metaphor (@SarahAMcManus' idea)
building a metacognition module that helps you figure out why you're stuck today
guided audio meditations?

> a metacognition module that helps you figure out why you're stuck today this sounds good!
Yeah, I'd been thinking about doing it for awhile, and reading "What Are Plans For?" was probably one of a few elements that brought it back to the foreground. (It also prompted me to briefly experiment with day-planning in prose rather than as a list. That may happen yet too!)
