Current framing: the representation/reality relationship is the CENTRAL and unsolvable problem for rationalism. Maps are highly atypical representations: the relationship is much simpler than most.

LW uses “map” instead of “representation” in order make it seem like the relationship is straightforward *in general*. That hides the central problem on which the whole story founders.

Oh good, I'm glad they were at least potentially helpful and not me just ranting on! I never got to any useful understanding myself, and I haven't looked at my horrible draft in a while.

before today, I most recently looked at my horrible draft a month ago and said “I should just finish this thing, it’s nearly done” and put another two or three days work into it, and realized it’s not nearly done.
