Masks were part of the US response in 1918, but fell out of favor until a few weeks ago. I would love a history of what happened in between. Was it the Anti-Mask League? Why did masks catch on again in Asia but not here?

I agree in terms of proximal cause, but note that we don’t really feel this way about surgical gloves, which are fairly standard for routine checkups involving contact
