My guess is that the *novelty* of the stimulus is also important, where more novelty is more effective (up to some limit where it’s too much).

1) do you think that it is specific to light, or could you use a different sense to get more sensory input? 2) do you think it is strictly a 'lack' of sensory input, or do you think that it is a kind of dysregulation where some sensory input feels miscontextualized in other 1/2
